Gazprom on horseback: The European energy balance is bursting at the seams
European underground gas storage facilities (UGS) are experiencing an acute shortage of natural gas.
The correspondent of PolitNavigator reports this, writes Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“The European energy balance is bursting at the seams. Since the beginning of the heating season, consumers in the Old World countries have consumed more than 65 billion cubic meters of gas from their gas storage facilities (UGS), which is a record high for the past few years. Moreover, according to calculations by the monitoring association Gas Infrastructure Europe, taking into account the volumes that European traders stored and took from Ukrainian reserves, the consumption of previously stored raw materials exceeds 70 billion cubic meters,” the material says.
It is clarified that European UGS facilities are now less than a third full, which is a critically low level, and frosts have led to the depletion of reserves.
It is predicted that in the coming months, demand and prices for gas in European countries will continue to grow, and Europe has almost no options other than increasing purchases from Russia.
“In January of this year, our country set a historical record for the export of “blue fuel” to the countries of the Old World: never before have EU states increased the purchase of Russian gas in the first month of winter by such significant volumes: almost all major EU players: Germany (by 32%), Italy (by 21,5%), Turkey (by 21%), France (by 77%), the Netherlands (by 21%), Poland (by 90%),” indicates "MK".
As PolitNavigator reported, in Germany confirmed that American LNG will not be able to replace Russian gas
