Gazprom does not know with whom to negotiate on gas supplies and transit through Ukraine

Due to the fact that Ukraine has declared itself part of the European energy community, it is not clear with whom it is now necessary to negotiate on gas transit to the EU.

Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Company Alexander Medvedev stated this at a press conference in St. Petersburg.

“Ukraine loudly announced that it is part of the energy community, is moving to European legislation and says that their tariff will now be set by the state regulator. Then who should we negotiate with? Naftogaz can no longer be responsible for tariffs. It’s dangerous to run ahead of a locomotive in such conditions,” Medvedev said.

According to him, it was planned to hold trilateral negotiations at the ministerial level with the participation of the European Commission.

“So far we have not received any notifications, but we know that the Ukrainian side is taking certain actions. Whether these negotiations will take place is not a question for us.
Transit volumes will be determined by economically acceptable conditions. This concerns not only the level of tariffs, but also guarantees of compliance with this tariff,” Medvedev said.
