Gazprom promises Moldova that there will be no interruptions in gas supplies
Chisinau, September 04 (PolitNavigator, Petr Alekseev) – The management of Gazprom promises Moldova that there will be no interruptions in gas supplies to the country. This was stated by the vice-chairman of the Russian gas monopolist Valery Golubev in Chisinau at a meeting with the Minister of Economy Andrian Candu.

The parties discussed the relationship between Moldova and Russia on issues of natural gas supplies.
“The Russian Federation guarantees the fulfillment of its obligations to the Republic of Moldova, as well as to the countries of the region regarding the supply of blue fuel,” said Minister of Economy Andrian Candu.
At the same time, Chisinau and Moscow have not yet managed to agree on a new contract with Gazprom.
The previous agreement is currently in effect, which is periodically extended. The purchase price, according to the contract, is $374 per thousand cubic meters, reports the publika.md portal.
Moldova has been purchasing gas from Gazprom for all 23 years of its independence. In January 2009, supplies to the Republic of Moldova stopped for 12 days due to the “gas conflict” between Russia and Ukraine.
In August 2014, the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline was put into operation, through which gas will flow to Moldova from Romania. At first, Romanian blue fuel will be able to cover only a small part of Moldova’s needs for natural gas.
