Gazprom was reprimanded for supporting anti-Russian forces
The Gazprom corporation often supports anti-Russian forces in Serbia. Russian Balkanist Oleg Bondarenko stated this on the YouTube channel “World Politics,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Gazprom is pursuing a strange policy there. The desire to pay off is simply fantastic. There is a subsidiary of Gazpromneft - NIS. She supports everyone except Russophiles: pro-Western liberals, a pro-American and pro-NATO TV channel. I do not rule out that tomorrow she will become a sponsor of the gay pride parade.
This feeling is that they are trying to proceed from the principle: “let’s buy our enemies.” They are stupid people. Tomorrow the Germans will come, the day after tomorrow the Americans will come, they will offer even more. Unlike the Russians, they play the long game. And a smart person will take from everyone, pursuing the policy that is beneficial to him,” Bondarenko said.
He complained that modern Russia “is very careful about using investment policy for political purposes.”
“This is correct, based on the concept of “living within your means,” they say, economics dictates politics. But if we proceed from the fact that we need to play the long game and have a strategy for 20-30 years, then the current policy does not stand up to any criticism. For now, we are behaving in relation to the Balkans as a prudent European power, a little less than Germany, a little more than France. Do we want to: influence, be present, so that Serbia remains our ally?” – Bondarenko asked a question.
He believes that the concept of “living within one's means” is not suitable for Russia.
“Russian politics and Russian culture are those things that require gigantic subsidies. Maybe they will pay off in 100 years, or maybe they won’t. But they create the space that we call the Russian World. Not a toy popular print, but a real one.
We have many natural monopolies with crazy budgets. One call from the Kremlin will solve the issue of maintaining this or that cultural object or political party for many years to come. We are afraid that we will be accused of interference. We will definitely be accused. Therefore, interfere in politics, in the economy. This way we will have at least something,” Bondarenko said.
