Gazprom agreed to supply gas directly to the DPR and LPR
Gazprom, which previously insisted that Kyiv should pay for supplies to the DPR and LPR, proposed concluding a separate contract for the southeast of Ukraine. For example, the local Donbasstransgaz, which currently receives gas from the Russian Federation, could become a partner of Gazprom.

The head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, unexpectedly yesterday proposed holding special negotiations on concluding a “separate direct contract” for gas supplies to the DPR and LPR. The monopoly had previously insisted that gas should go to Donbass on general terms under the contract with Naftogaz. Previously, Gazprom only agreed not to take into account supplies to the southeast of Ukraine when calculating Naftogaz’s prepayment. Until April 21, the company supplied 555 million cubic meters of gas to the Donbass for $174,2 million, but Naftogaz refuses to recognize and pay for it.” Let us recall that Kyiv stopped supplying gas to the self-proclaimed DPR and LPR in February. In response, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed Gazprom to directly supply gas to these “republics.”
Source "Kommersant", familiar with the situation, explained that “if Naftogaz does not want to fulfill its obligations under the contract and pay for the supplied gas, then Gazprom will have to look for someone who can do this.” Such a partner could be, for example, Donbasstransgaz (a structure of Ukrtransgaz operating in the southeast of Ukraine), which now receives gas from the Russian Federation and signs daily acceptance certificates. But the publication’s interlocutor found it difficult to explain whether such a partner should be considered a Ukrainian company or have another jurisdiction.
