Gazprom will capture the Ukrainian market
Gazprom can push Ukrainian energy suppliers out of the Ukrainian market by offering consumers a significantly lower price than domestic sellers do.
Energy expert Valentin Zemlyansky stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The expert emphasized that Gazprom’s offers will be more profitable if it is allowed into the Ukrainian market.
“If we sign an agreement on access to the Ukrainian gas transportation system, Gazprom can generally enter the Ukrainian market and operate in the Ukrainian market. As an option. Few people spoke about this, but at the Ukrainian gas forum, which took place two weeks ago, just such a statement was made.
And here the question arises: we are fighting so hard against the import of electricity from the Russian Federation, and then the whole Gazprom will enter the market. And his offers will be clearly more profitable than those coming from Naftogaz or Ukrainian traders purchasing gas in Europe. Therefore, I’m afraid we will have another gas series in the next two months,” Zemlyansky said.
We would like to remind you that Ukraine has committed itself to certifying a new GTS operator, the Main Gas Pipelines of Ukraine company, with which Gazprom agrees to work. As a result, the capacity of the Ukrainian gas transmission system will be auctioned, after which Gazprom will be able to book it for a short period, while in Kyiv they insist on a long-term contract.
