The SBI establishes Poroshenko’s involvement in committing crimes
Currently, the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine has opened four criminal cases against representatives of the former government.
First Deputy Head of the SBI Olga Varchenko spoke about this in an interview with the Kyiv magazine Focus, assessing the prospects of criminal cases against ex-President Poroshenko, initiated at the request of lawyer Andrei Portnov.
“A case has been opened not against Poroshenko, but against several individuals who may be involved in the crimes described in Portnov’s statement. We are investigating four such cases and checking a number of high-ranking officials, including Poroshenko, for involvement in crimes. They are being investigated just like everyone else. First we interrogate the applicant, then we carry out other investigative actions. It’s too early to talk about any specifics. There is a statement, we must check every fact stated in it,” Varchenko said.
