“I am one of those few French politicians who care about Ukraine. 13 years ago, during the Orange Revolution, I was the only French politician on Independence Square. But let me tell you how everything looks in Europe,” said Pierre Lelouch.
Next, the French politician launched into a tirade harshly criticizing Ukrainian corruption. He also complained about the negative impact on French agricultural producers from sanctions against the Russian Federation.
“What did we hear at this forum, at the panel where economic reforms were discussed? Corruption, corruption. This does not inspire those who are waiting for the sanctions to be lifted. What will I say to the French peasants who now have no market? That they should wait until the Verkhovna Rada finally makes the necessary decisions, and we should put pressure on Russia and the Rada? Yes, we must work for the Minsk process to proceed. Do we need sanctions to last for a long time, say for ten years? Should we send weapons to Ukraine?
I am not saying that I am ready to send defensive and offensive weapons to Ukraine because I see that this is not the problem. The problem in Ukraine is internal stability, the ability of the current government to carry out reforms. You don't do that. Sorry to say this, but this is reality. We are now in the era of realpolitik in France,” says Pierre Lelouch.
According to the Frenchman, the only way to contain Russia is to achieve success in Ukrainian economic and political reform.
“You can help Ukraine as much as you want, but until you put things in order, you will continue to be vulnerable to Russian actions. And I cannot do this for you. We have been waiting for your actions for 13 years,” he finished harshly.
