“Where is the money, Zin?” – Shufrich demanded to punish those who stole from the Ukrainian army
Ukraine, despite the increase in defense spending, has dropped in the international ranking of military power, said Nestor Shufrych, a deputy from the Opposition Bloc, during a meeting of the Ukrainian parliament.

“I’ll be honest: yesterday I didn’t find the strength to attend the speech of President Poroshenko Petro Alekseevich, but I was able to analyze his speech,” the politician said. – I cannot but agree with the arguments that those responsible for what happened before 2014 in the matter of our defense capability should be punished. But this, of course, also applies to individual ministers, including the Minister of Economy. Today we need to bring to justice all those responsible for the fact that our army is in a serious condition.”
“But I was also interested in other facts,” the deputy added. – It was said that today our potential is much greater. Indeed, we have doubled military spending as a percentage of the budget and even exceeded NATO standards. And what have we received in these two years? It turns out that in 2014, Ukraine, according to the international rating Global Firepower Index, ranked 21st among 126 countries in the world in terms of its military power. In 2016 – 30th place. That is, we lost our rating by 9 places, although we increased funding for the military sphere due to the fact that we actually drove our citizens into poverty.”
“Citizens have become 6 times poorer, utility tariffs have increased almost three times, purchasing power has decreased five times,” Shufrich emphasized. – And everyone supports military spending, but today one question arises, which is very beautifully expressed in the famous song by Vladimir Vysotsky: “Where is the money, Zin?” The opposition bloc fully supports the creation of a commission on the issue of theft of the defense budget and bringing to justice those who stole it from 2014 to today. These people must be punished."
