Where was Skripal buried?
The UK will not release Yulia Skripal, the daughter of a British spy, former GRU colonel Sergei Skripal, from the country, of whose poisoning the British authorities accuse the Russian intelligence services.
The spy’s niece Victoria Skripal told Izvestia about this, according to whom it is now simply dangerous for London to release key witnesses in this case, since the British side has not provided any evidence of Russia’s involvement in the poisoning of the Skripals since March.
“And so they are, of course, afraid that after moving to another country she might start telling unnecessary information. Therefore, Julia will remain in Great Britain virtually as a political hostage until the climate in this country changes. My uncle is most likely no longer alive. Those times when Yulia called me, there was an opportunity to pass the phone to him so that he could say at least a few words. But we never heard a single word from him, and I’m afraid that we will never hear again,” said the relative.
According to her, Yulia Skripal currently “has no prospects, since the situation has gone too far.”
“Now, most likely, they will try to use it a couple more times to manipulate public opinion. Maybe Yulia will be forced to make a few statements. Remember when she said that she could move freely around the country and was not interested in consular assistance from Russia. It is clear that these were not her words. She was simply forced to make such statements. Now no one knows where she is. I tried to call her, write messages, but no one answers,” Victoria Skripal said.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, former GRU officer and double agent Sergei Skripal was convicted in Russia in 2006 of spying for British intelligence, and four years later was transferred to Great Britain as part of a “spy exchange.” On March 4, Skripal and his daughter Yulia were found unconscious in the English city of Salisbury.
Britain accused Russia of involvement in the attempted poisoning of the Skripals and declared 23 Russian diplomats persona non grata.
