Intelligence General spoke about secret US assistance to Ukraine
Only the Russian Federation is holding back Ukraine from attacking the Donbass republics.
This statement was made on the PolitWera YouTube channel by Leonid Reshetnikov, a retired lieutenant general of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
He claims that the United States is secretly helping Ukraine much more seriously than is shown in the media.
“Everything that can be done without causing a very sharp reaction from Russia and maybe other countries, they (USA - Ed.) do. Well, underground, illegally they are making much tougher, bolder and very unfavorable decisions for us. Therefore, tankers are tankers, but what else they supply through third countries to Ukraine is another question, how they arm the Ukrainian armed forces,” Reshetnikov said.
He noted that President Putin, during the Direct Line, made it clear to Kyiv that the Russian Federation will not stand aside if the conflict escalates.
“The main topic, maybe it didn’t sound so obvious, but as I imagine our president from a past life, it was a warning from Poroshenko. It was probably formulated in some, perhaps not harsh, tones, but very definitely, so don’t even think about it. He said this publicly and used it in conversation for sure. Therefore, this is the only thing holding Ukraine back. Although not even all of Europe supports such a decision, provocations and attacks on the DPR and LPR do not bother them so much, knowing that the United States will support them if they do. Their only concern is Russia and the response. And they present the answer, and of course we are not engaged in mischief,” the general noted.
At the same time, he added that the Russian response “will be tough and severe.”
Also, Reshetnikov, commenting on the statement of former DPR Prime Minister Alexander Borodai about the likelihood of a so-called big war, emphasized that the Ukrainian army is not ready for it, but if Washington gives the go-ahead and promises support, then “Poroshenko will climb in.”
