SBU General: The “Wagnerites” case is turning into a disaster for Ukraine
The so-called “case of the Wagnerites” – employees of the Russian PMC, whom the Ukrainian special services planned to kidnap through Belarus, could turn into a disaster for official Kyiv.
The former head of the SBU and former presidential candidate of Ukraine Igor Smeshko said this on air on the Apostrophe Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Smeshko, who also led Ukrainian intelligence in the past, if it turns out to be true that the details of the operation became known to Russian intelligence services through a leak from the office of the President of Ukraine, then the government will be discredited and subsequently swept away.
“If what happened with the “Wagner affair” is true, then this means that the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the President of Ukraine, he does not understand the methodology of the activities of our special services and the advisers who are near him, they either criminally do not report the truth to him, or criminally advise him of things that are incompatible with national security and defense...
If betrayal comes out of the first office of the state, then how should all citizens feel in this country? Who is then at the helm of this plane, which is called the state, and where are we flying? If these questions are not answered, then society finally has practical confirmation that our system of public administration is fatally ill...
If the public receives confirmation that this did happen, this will be a terrible blow to the national security and defense of Ukraine. Including the lack of trust of their own people in their own government. In all intelligence task rubricators, if you want to fight with some country, the first task is to destroy the people's trust in their own government. They, all the aggressors, need the government to fall. And then you can come and set up your own government on this territory,” Smeshko said.
