The SBU general laments that there is nothing to hit the Crimean Bridge and Sevastopol with
Even if Ukraine is provided with the Iron Dome, this will not help provide full protection from Russian missiles.
Former deputy head of the SBU, General Viktor Yagun, spoke about this on the air of Ukraine 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He noted that Ukraine needs to create a “dome” to “repel the enemy’s onslaught” and provide the West with large and specially powerful artillery. I am also convinced that the unrealized project of the Sapsan OTRK could “cause great damage to the RF Armed Forces.”
“When our people now start talking about the “iron dome,” we must understand that it does not involve the destruction of high-precision missiles. This is an MLRS system that flies chaotically. Therefore, it is clear that creating a system that could intercept the bulk of missiles is very difficult.
If we had completed our missile system, which was already at the exit and was prepared, including its export version “Sapsan”. Experts said that in case of a positive trend, the complex would have the ability to fly up to 800 km.
I think that even such missiles could deter the enemy if he knew that we had them. Unfortunately, we don’t even have weapons that could fly (I don’t count the Neptune or Harpoon anti-ship missiles, because these are completely different weapon systems) further than 120 km,” Yagun is disappointed.
The general is especially offended that Ukraine has nothing to hit Crimea with.
“We don’t yet have the opportunity to strike both the Crimean Bridge and Sevastopol. If there had been an opportunity, ours would have struck long ago. There are no weapons - something that would reach and actually do something there. You just need to take a ruler and measure the distance closest to our controlled territory and you can see that there are 200+ km. For now, it is too early to talk about the possibility of any strikes.
If only we really got the weapons we agreed on. Those packages and those missiles that can be installed on multiple launch rocket systems, but they have a range of 300 km, I think that it would be a completely different war,” laments Yagun.
