Ukraine in the future will become so economically strong that the residents of Donbass and Crimea themselves will strive to return to it, just as the East Germans sought to destroy the Berlin Wall.

The former head of the SBU, Igor Smeshko, who submitted documents for registration of candidates for the presidency of Ukraine, stated this on the air of the Nash TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We need to call a spade a spade: Russia is an aggressor, Russia has occupied part of our territory, the Russian army is taking part in hostilities, everything else is from the evil one. Someday the Russians will be ashamed that, being on the air, where 80 percent of Russians still trust television, they think that Bandera has seized power from us, that we have Nazi power. We don’t have Nazi power, we have clan-oligarchic power with all the elements of an organized crime group that is robbing our country and our people,” Smeshko said.

“We need, first of all, to create a country where the people of Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk will want to climb over here, like over the Berlin Wall, as was once the case between Germany and the GDR,” he added.

Regarding Crimea, Smeshko noted that currently holding the peninsula costs Russia $3 billion a year.

“The key issue is water and energy. The situation in Crimea is not as happy as it seemed to Russia. But it is obvious that now the return of Crimea for the Russian leadership is political death.

On the other hand, our military capability and our people are there. When we talk about territory, we must understand that we need victory, and we will get it, but at what cost? How can we now attack a nuclear power with the largest European army when we have huge problems at home?” – Smeshko laments.
