SBU General confirmed Surkov's secret visits to Kyiv
In 2014, after fierce fighting in the Donbass and the defeat of the Ukrainian group in the “cauldrons,” then-aide to the Russian President Vladislav Surkov secretly flew to Kiev and met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
The former head of the SBU Investigation Department Vasily Vovk stated this on the air of Emigrant Radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Vovk criticized the secrecy that shrouded Surkov’s visit, emphasizing that Ukrainian propaganda, on the contrary, should have made the most of it to its advantage.
“I remember that Surkov, from the point of view of our relations with Russia, is a high-ranking official close to Putin, flew to Boryspil to communicate with President Poroshenko. And all this was very secret.
I say: “Dear, why keep it secret, why are you hiding information from people?” Come out, presidential press secretary, and say: “Today we decided to call Surkov to our place and point out to him this, that and that. After talking with him, we will report to you, dear Ukrainian people, about what happened.” No one will say a word that some “representative of the aggressor” Surkov has arrived!
This is normal - “they called you in.” We talked. Even if it wasn't so. Because you need to communicate with marmots, and with Cossacks, and even with Cossack women. The special services should communicate with the Cossacks, and diplomats should communicate with the Cossacks,” Vovk said.
