Western ambassadors humiliated SBU general
The top political leadership of Ukraine entered into some agreements with Russia in 2014, and therefore did not introduce martial law in connection with the conflict in Donbass.
Igor Smeshko, ex-chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine, stated this on the Ukraine 24 channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Why didn’t Ukraine apply the defense law from the first days, and why didn’t it declare martial law in the combat zone? Obviously, there were some agreements behind the scenes between the highest political leadership of our country and the aggressor. It seems to me that Western ambassadors advised Mr. Turchinov not to provoke Russia.
For me this is nonsense. For me it was a huge humiliation - I remember a different diplomacy. I remember with what respect they treated us when we had nuclear weapons, when we had an army of 1,2 million, the largest army in Europe,” said the former head of the SBU.
According to him, the signing of the Minsk agreements was a recognition that what is happening in Donbass is an internal conflict, and not Russian aggression.
“De facto, the Steinmeier formula, the Minsk agreements, is a recognition that we have an internal conflict. This is nonsense,” summed up Smeshko.
