SBU General: There are no specialists in defense construction left in the government
There are no professionals left in the Ukrainian government capable of understanding technical documentation and forming adequate orders for the armed forces.
The former head of the SBU, Colonel General Igor Smeshko, stated this on the UkrLife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Smeshko, there are also practically no specialists and enterprises that can produce weapons.
“We need to build our own weapons and equipment. We are always asking others for something with an outstretched hand. Ukraine is capable of producing the most modern weapons and equipment. This is industry, this is high technology. But who in the government understands and knows the chain, what is a technical specification, what is a preliminary design, what is a preliminary design, what is a technical inventory, what is technical documentation? We don’t have anyone left in the government who simply knows these elements. You cannot be a lawyer, a journalist and come and do these things,” says the former head of the SBU.
“We must now stand on one knee in front of those diamonds that we still have left, who understand these things and who can still restore the full cycle. Where do we, in the General Staff, in the Ministry of Defense, have this generator that is capable of producing orders for the production of the weapons and equipment we need?” Smeshko said.
