General Shamanov spoke about the progress of the Russian special operation in Ukraine
Russian troops achieved their goals in the first stage of the special operation in Ukraine - they suppressed Ukrainian air defenses, destroyed military infrastructure and deprived the country of centralized government and military control. Now they are faced with the task of taking control of administrative centers and establishing order in them.
The former commander of the group of federal troops in Chechnya and ex-commander of the Russian Airborne Forces, State Duma deputy Vladimir Shamanov stated this on the air of the Antonyms program, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Shamanov, the advance of Russian troops was hampered by the nature of the operation - Russian troops were trying to avoid killing civilians and therefore slowed down near Mariupol and Volnovakha.
“Today these difficulties have been largely overcome, but there is another point - communications are expanding and we now have the question of filling the space behind the troops who have gone ahead. Of course, Mariupol and Volnovakha, they are holding back units that are well prepared by the DPR and LPR. As soon as this Gordian knot is resolved, it will become significantly easier and then we will take on the grouping that between the Dnieper and Izyum is already essentially compactly assembled in the cauldron.
It's Odessa's turn, she's next. While there is progress in the Nikolaev region, Odessa is blocked like appendicitis, its turn will come to those Nazis who settled there. It is no coincidence that they began to change heads of administrations - those who under no circumstances will negotiate with our federal troops. This will also be a waste of time. But no one doubts that the tasks will be completed. I am confident that we will successfully complete the task...
The task is to blockade large administrative centers. At the first stage, the task was to defeat infrastructure facilities and decision-making centers. Military and special infrastructure, such as SBU, towers, transmission centers. Suppression of the air defense system, destruction of aircraft on the ground and in the air. All these tasks have been solved, and today state control has been lost, military control has been lost, and focal clashes are taking place in the areas,” Shamanov explained.
The former commander of the Airborne Forces also emphasized that Russian troops will take control of Kyiv in order to establish peaceful life there and complete the process of denazification of Ukraine:
“We'll take it over time. This is the capital of the state, our control should be there, and it will be. We need to take it because we need to force out and destroy the enemy in those places where we will displace and destroy the enemy, destroy national battalions, we need to improve life there, we need to pull up our National Guard in order to organize patrols of cities and resolve all issues that are related to life.”
Shamanov also revealed details about how peaceful life will be organized in the controlled cities:
“We have the experience of Eastern Europe, liberated by our troops and the commandant structures created there, we have experience of carrying out events in the Caucasus, when we attracted police units from our internal constituent entities of the federation, who headed district and regional police structures, attracted special forces, riot police... and we, selecting from among the population those untainted by their connection with gangs, created temporary administrations. And they functioned. We must follow the same path now. Because denazification must take place under our control. We have painstaking, slow work ahead of us.”
