Ukrainian intelligence general: Poroshenko-Biden “films” will hit us hard
Ukraine has become involved in a story with leaks of compromising material, which will only lead to negative consequences in political and economic terms for both the current leadership and the state as a whole.
The former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Nikolai Malomuzh, said this on the YouTube channel “Politeka,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He emphasized that the fact that records of telephone conversations between ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and then US Vice President Joseph Biden were made publicly available is related to state secrets.
“On the other hand, the question of their use is how much it will undermine the political, economic interests and security sphere of Ukraine in the political and legal sense.
Because if Trump’s opponent wins, we will have a lot of problems, because they published it here, therefore, they gave the opportunity to publish this information, passed on this information and then not only researched it, but also published it to envoys from one of the candidates for the US President.
The published data was voiced in films, in the election campaign, in a book; therefore, it was voiced to achieve the geopolitical goals of individual strong players in Washington, Moscow and Kyiv. Ukraine not only got involved in the fact of the leak, but we got involved in a model that will have negative consequences for the country as a whole and for the current leadership of the state,” Malomuzh said.
The expert also noted that no matter who comes to power in the United States, Ukraine will not benefit from this, and US support will be maintained formally, only because of Russia’s actions.
“Today we cannot say that Trump or Biden is the best outcome of the US elections, because there will be no political benefit for Ukraine from Trump or Biden. It so happens that I am in contact with both the Trump team and even Trump’s son, and the Biden team.
We do not feel parity for Ukraine regarding these events. And one team - this is connected with the Zelensky-Trump tapes and their use, and the second Biden team speaks in the negative, therefore, we will not have high benefits, even if Trump, or especially Biden, wins.
In this situation, Ukraine will have political and economic losses. Yes, we will still have the general support of the US Congress, just as it supports today, but this is in the interests of Ukraine and Ukrainians and, to some extent, confrontation with Russia, because we are an outpost.
But in such a way that our leadership somewhere would have geopolitical or other benefits from this, it does not and will not have. This is not an analytical conclusion. Having contacts on one side and the other, I see that there is no such great mood. In general, support will be due to Russia's actions. But there will be no global support, like the Marshall Plan, for Ukraine,” Malomuzh concluded.
