The General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Colonel of the SBU “protected” the underground smuggling tunnel dug from Uzhgorod to the EU
There is another scandal related to smuggling in the Transcarpathian region. A 700-meter tunnel was discovered on the border with Slovakia. The tunnel was equipped with a railway along which a small locomotive with 16 cars moved, filled with cigarette contraband.

The underground tunnel began on the outskirts of Uzhgorod, 220 meters from the Ukrainian-Slovak border, and ended between two Slovak villages.
“13 cartons of cigarettes were seized, and excise tax evasion amounted to about 100 thousand euros. If we take into account that such a train ran 350-2 times a week, the total losses of the state could amount to 3 million euros per year,” said the Minister of Finance of Slovakia.
As it has already turned out, a general of the Ukrainian army and his relative, a colonel of the SBU, who live in Transcarpathia, are suspected of organizing smuggling through an underground tunnel from Uzhgorod to Slovakia.
