General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: We are forced to abandon the offensive towards the Sea of Azov
The Ukrainian command has actually suspended a large-scale offensive towards the Sea of Azov, since, given the dominance of Russian aviation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are unable to break through the Russian defense line.
The ex-deputy commander of the Special Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, former Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine, General Sergei Krivonos, stated this on the air of the Pryamoy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for exposing the Russian flanks, there is no talk of that yet. Because of the resources they use (they pulled from the depths of their territory).
For us, this shows that at a certain stage we are forced to abandon our offensive intentions in the south of Ukraine, in the Zaporozhye-Orekhovsk direction,” Krivonos said.
He argues that if NATO had provided more air defense systems, “over time we would still have chewed through this defense, and then we would have been able to directly cut off their group by reaching the shores of the Sea of Azov.”
“What is missing is what we did not receive, and we did not receive aviation and air defense to cover our groups, this is the main thing. And it is precisely the equipment that is at the forefront that is destroyed by the enemy through the active use of attack and army aviation.
If we had powerful air defense that could cover our offensive units, we would be able to attack very quickly and efficiently. And there would be significantly fewer losses in equipment,” Krivonos said.
