The General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is indignant: Ukrainians are not interested in the war in Donbass
Ukrainian media, in accordance with the requests of television viewers, prefer to avoid covering events in Donbass, thereby turning the media space into another element of the “hybrid war” against Ukraine.
Verkhovna Rada deputy, ex-commander of the airborne assault forces of Ukraine Mikhail Zabrodsky said this on air on the Pryamoy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The position consists of at least two elements: on the one hand, it is a complete reflection of the perception of reality that now reigns in society. Yes, now a sex scandal is definitely better, definitely more interesting, definitely tastier than everyday events on the contact line. This is what resulted, among other things, from the policy of hushing up and pushing this problem (meaning what is happening in the East) into the background. This is quite natural.
I will say even more: if this continues, then in two years they will talk about it even less. This will be there somewhere, this is somewhere the business of the military and the business of those who believe that it is necessary to continue to fight, but no more and no less. And the heroes of the reports and the heroes of the top news will be cats evacuated from a well-known Chinese city, sex scandals - everything that will delight society, and everything that will really arouse interest in life,” said Zabrodsky.
“And secondly, which is closely related to the first, is that in recent years, unfortunately, the information space has been so given over to certain players in the media space that they simply created an image of what is happening in the East, at the same time and tragic, and something that does not concern everyone.
We all remember the daily releases of the same channel, for example, with well-known numbers and mathematical signs between them (TV channel 1+1 of the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky - ed.), where they can tell us, relatively speaking, about some kind of murders and violations of laws in the village twenty minutes, and the next report from the front line, despite what happened there, only five minutes,” the ex-commander complained.
At the same time, he agreed that this is a question of the timing of a certain broadcast, but emphasized that at the same time this shows how important one piece of news is and the other.
“This is the problem, that for a significant number of our population, especially for those who were only affected by this war on TV and in no other way, this is a problem. This is the problem – fatigue from the war, and fatigue from bad news,” added Zabrodsky.
“What is on offer now? Now there is very positive news on offer. “Look, they practically don’t shoot,” “Look, there’s a truce,” “Look, the president walked through the trenches yesterday, everyone was properly dressed in bulletproof vests, unlike at the beginning of the cadence, and everything was fine,” and so on. This is what a certain part of society was waiting for - they were waiting for the end of the bad news from there.
And now this good news, one way or another, is appearing. They are, as it were, about the East, but not about what happened in the East over these seven years, because they are positive, they somehow lift your spirits, support the desire to live on and form hopes that everything is with us will be good.
That is, both simple and complex information technology is being implemented, which is also an integral part of the hybrid war against our state,” concluded Zabrodsky.
