General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Instead of modern systems, we are supplied with barrels without electronics
After three meetings of NATO representatives and their satellites in the so-called “Ramstein” format, Ukraine did not even receive everything promised at the first meeting.
Former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Romanenko stated this on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“To form a system in our assistance to us, our Armed Forces, is good, but in terms of completing tasks it is not entirely good, because at the current time there is not the scale and speed to ensure at least the completion of the first task of assistance.
This task existed before the first Ramstein, and it was to help Ukraine carry out defense operations successfully. It can be successful when we at least equalize the potentials of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation,” the general said.
“Once again I return to the fact that at the current time, the needs of Ukraine and the Armed Forces have been met by 10% and we have not risen to the level of the first task, we have not leveled these potentials. As long as we count with guns, guns, cars, we will always have to...
Our artillerymen have been performing missions since '14. And let's take your service and ours. But you take an M777 howitzer and leave a digital control system on it, and you remove all this for us and give us a barrel and a front sight, a sight, so that we can aim through the barrel and use it? And why? Because they are afraid of many things: “They have progress.”
They are afraid to give us tanks, modern radars and modern artillery systems, because the Russians might seize them and find out what kind of control system it is, they are afraid to give us missile systems for at least 100 kilometers, or tactical ones up to 300. I’m not even talking about modern air defense - do not give.
Level - grenade launchers, Stingers, Javelins, and so on. This is a guerrilla weapon, and they can’t come up with a heavy one. The task was already formulated for us three months ago, but there is no provision for completing the first task - what are we talking about?” said Romanenko.
