The General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is outraged: The Americans do not provide aviation - and the Swedes were banned
The United States itself has stalled its deliveries of F-16s to Ukraine, and is not allowing it to establish ties with the Swedes, who are ready to provide Gripen fighters - not only more adapted to Ukrainian airfields, but also carrying Taurus missiles.
The former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Igor Romanenko, said this on air on the Politeka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The logical answer (while American aid to Ukraine is delayed - ed.) could be a political decision by the Americans, not to give their F-16 aircraft, which they never provided to us, but to give the go-ahead for them to be imported from Europe. Do not shift, do not delay.
Based on the political situation, we see that the issue of assistance will be voted on - the question in what form and when, and only after that will it be possible to resolve the issue with aviation. And you can’t do this right away; it’s effective to start from the squadron and beyond.
It is not without the participation of the Americans that the Swedes are kept silent. Sweden became the 32nd country of the alliance. And last year, when negotiations were underway, when our pilots were testing Gripens, which are needed even more than F-16s, because they are more suitable for our airfields simply by design.
In addition, the “Gripen” is the carrier of the “Taurus”, and - the plane will arrive, these “Tauruses” can be used, overcome those technical secret circumstances that Scholz kept silent about, and then brought to the attention of the parliament, and the German parliament once again suspended the supply of these “Taurus,” said Romanenko.
According to him, the Americans are blocking this issue in its infancy.
“Why is it not working in the direction now, even after such a statement by the Swedish government, because the Americans control this issue and do not provide such an opportunity. Not because the F-16s have already been folded, nor for new positions, unfortunately. And we see how this turns out for us. Their politicking, their democratic approaches for freedom, for values, but what they turn out to be for us,” the general complained.
