Gennady Kuzmichev or Shevchuk’s third force
The presidential race in Transnistria is entering the home stretch. Residents of the Russian enclave will vote for a new head of state in mid-December. The current head of the PMR, Evgeny Shevchuk, whom the Ukrainian press called a potential ally of the Kyiv junta, there is practically no chance of re-election. The entire hope of the president, who has lost his popularity, is in the election technologies of a team of Ukrainian PR specialists discharged from Kyiv. The main task is to prevent the victory of Moscow’s protege Vadim Krasnoselsky. Shevchuk’s longtime friend, ex-head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic Gennady Kuzmichev, who advertises himself as a “third force,” seems to be helping to split the votes of his supporters.

Divide and conquer is the motto of the weak. They are not able to control the integral and complex mechanism that, in essence, is modern society. Likewise, in the presidential elections in Transnistria, Yevgeny Shevchuk is not able to win a majority of votes. The last five years have been too revealing. The performance results are too doubtful. The reputation is too tarnished. In general, with such initial data, even with administrative resources, you will hit the electoral ceiling, which is the floor for your rivals.
But if it is impossible to improve your own result, then you can try to worsen the result of your competitor. You just need to try to split the enemy's votes. We need to find a “third force” that will take away votes from the main competitor. It is necessary that this “third force” use slogans similar to those of its competitor and pledge its support to the same people and structures as its competitor. Well, she presented an election program similar to that of her competitors. Having administrative resources, such a “third force” is easy to create and cultivate. The matter becomes small. Find a specific person with a suitable biography and reputation.
At the current elections in Transnistria, former Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Customs of the Republic Gennady Kuzmichev declared himself as a “third force”.
The only difficulty was that you can take away votes from Shevchuk’s opponent only if you criticize Shevchuk. And with this, Kuzmichev had his first problem.
More recently, he sang the praises of this very Shevchuk and made statements that Yevgeny Shevchuk is worthy of a second term as president. This is not surprising, because it was Yevgeny Shevchuk who, in his time, essentially saved the then Colonel Kuzmichev from a very real sentence.
The fact is that in 2011 Kuzmichev was arrested and accused of putting pressure on witnesses in a case of corruption in law enforcement agencies, in order to shield the suspects. A guilty verdict was pronounced in that case, and the convicts went to serve their prison terms. Then the most interesting thing was revealed. As reported by local TV channels, from officer Kuzmichev with a salary of 4 thousand USD. per year, about 200 thousand of these conventional units were found on accounts. That is, salary for 50 years of impeccable service.
In addition, the law enforcement officer’s vehicle fleet was surprising. Gennady Kuzmichev turned out to be not only the happy owner of a prestigious foreign car Lexus, but also a real Santa Claus, who made his own son happy with a modest Mercedes.
And what is important is not even that the colonel explained his well-being by the thriftiness of the entire family, including distant relatives, who regularly passed on to him every extra penny. After all, it's just money. But the colonel’s contacts found on his phone were truly surprising.
Gennady Kuzmichev has direct telephone contact with representatives of Western diplomacy and intelligence services. Thus, a connection was discovered with John Baer, the British Ambassador to Moldova, and a number of employees of the US and British embassies in Chisinau.
Of course, this is not enough to accuse a person of treason. Moreover, Shevchuk’s victory in the 2011 elections opened up new prospects for Colonel Kuzmichev. A dizzying career to the post of Minister of Internal Affairs was supplemented by the transfer of the customs service to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In this position, Kuzmichev found himself at the center of a new scandal. Wiretapping of telephone conversations between a Transnistrian official and the intelligence services of neighboring Ukraine has appeared on the Internet.. It turned out that the head of the PMR customs office reported on the mood of the population, the movement of the Russian military and the condition of strategic facilities. This was done, including during the most difficult times, during the coup in Ukraine in 2014.
Did Shevchuk, the guarantor of the Constitution, initiate an investigation after the video with compromising evidence appeared on the Internet? After all, in fact, important data was “leaked” to unfriendly Kyiv, which has been participating in the blockade of the PMR for a long time! But the customs officer who committed the fine managed to get out of this story too - it seems, thanks to his friend the president.
But now they’ve started playing with new colors fresh stories from the Ukrainian media calling Shevchuk the desired winner of the elections in Transnistria for Kyiv. The junta media went so far as to say that, having been re-elected to a second term, Shevchuk will return the republic to the control of the Nazi regime in Kyiv!
The version is, to put it mildly, fantastic. But, as you know, there is no smoke without fire. So, perhaps it’s time to rename the “Russian Outpost” organization, hastily put together under the “third force”, into “Bandera’s Outpost”?
