The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine recognized the illegality of the ATO
Experts from the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine concluded that the use of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the conflict in Donbass is illegal, which automatically subjects any soldier who participated in the war to the tribunal.
Oleg Zhivotov, a lawyer for the former head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vladimir Zamana, who is under criminal investigation, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the conclusion of prosecutorial experts fully confirms Russia’s accusations about the illegal actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“For the first time in the history of Ukraine in this case, I don’t know who the experts and prosecutors of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine work for, we have an examination in which it is directly written in the title and its conclusion is written in the message of suspicion to Vladimir Mikhailovich, there is a phrase. For the first time in the history of Ukraine, experts have established that, according to Article 17 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot be involved in any conflict within the country. They are intended only to repel external aggression.
What Russian propaganda has said more than once, that our Armed Forces are involved in the ATO illegally, is the first time in the history of Ukraine that an expert has established this. Nobody pays attention to all the defense’s comments to the court that we are documenting ourselves for the international court on such crimes.
The examination exists, it cannot be canceled, and it cannot be recalled either. That is, we have an official procedural document in the case, which now any enemy can refer to and accuse any serviceman who was involved in the ATO,” Zhivotov said.
