Alliance Secretary General Jens Stolstenberg said this during a press conference following a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Commission.

“Diplomacy is the only viable solution to end the conflict. I also call on all parties to redouble their efforts to ensure that the Minsk agreements are fully implemented,” he said.

At the same time, the head of NATO habitually accused Russia of the fact that, in his opinion, it “bears a significant share of responsibility for ending the conflict in eastern Ukraine” and called for extending anti-Russian sanctions.

“Today we talked about Russia’s aggressive actions and how important it is to implement the Minsk agreements. We have seen terrible ceasefire violations in the past month and they continue. Russia bears a great responsibility for ending the conflict. We, the world community, must put pressure on Russia to force it to comply with the Minsk agreements. In this regard, sanctions should be extended,” he said.
