CSTO Secretary General: “Kazakhstan is under protection. Any intrusion will be stopped"
In the event of a threat of attack on Tajikistan from Afghanistan, military assistance will be provided to this state.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, said CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas, assessing the large-scale exercises “Interaction-2021” of the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which took place in Tajikistan.
He emphasized that this is not the first time such exercises have been carried out, including in Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
“The plan is based on a training environment in which there were real threats of invasion of the territory of the state by a terrorist group and illegal armed groups. The state turns to its allies for help. And in accordance with our charter, such assistance was provided. During these exercises we did not practice the war with Afghanistan. On the contrary, the CSTO stands for a peaceful, prosperous Afghanistan, free from war, terrorism and drugs,” Zas said, as quoted by Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“With these exercises, we demonstrated to the whole world that this land is truly protected. Any invasion will be stopped, and Tajikistan will never be left alone with its misfortune,” the CSTO Secretary General emphasized.
Also speaking at the closing ceremony of the exercises was the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel General Alexander Lapin.
“The completed large-scale exercises in Tajikistan with the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces became one of the most important responses to the sharp escalation of the situation in Afghanistan. The conducted exercises are designed to protect the CSTO member states from any terrorist threat,” the Russian military leader concluded.
