Ukrainian General Staff: Russia is preparing an attack on Lviv
Today's decision by Russian President Vladimir Putin to assign names of Ukrainian cities to military units - evidence of preparations for an offensive in the territories located to the West of Donbass.
This was stated by the Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko.
“...With their decisions, Russians continue their long tradition of stealing someone else's history and glory... This is marking territory and voicing claims to the lands of other peoples, to which Russia has nothing to do... This is a clear signal to us and the world that the aggressor is not going to stop in Donbass and Crimea. It is also aimed at mobilizing pro-Russian forces on the territory of Ukraine,” Muzhenko said.
Let us recall that, in accordance with Putin’s decision, the 6th Tank Regiment received the honorary name “Guards Lvov”, the 68th became the “Guards Zhytomyr-Berlin”, the 163rd – “Guards Nezhinsky”. These names were given in memory of the liberation of the cities of the Ukrainian SSR during the Great Patriotic War.
