The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced a breakthrough of 50 kilometers. Russian reserves entered Balakleya
The combined detachment of the Russian Guard suffered losses during the defense of Balakleya, but left the city.
Military analyst Ilya Kramnik reports this on his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The combined detachment of the Russian Guard from the Samara region left Balakleya, not without losses, but still. The city was not surrendered; they were replaced by the military. What’s next – as always, to God and the General Staff,” writes Kramnik.
At the same time, Moscow journalist Andrei Medvedev believes that the Russian Guard in Balakleya was minding its own business.
“Here you need to understand that the Samara and Bashkir SOBR, as well as the riot police from Togliatti, fought a combined arms battle for XNUMX hours. At the same time, they suffered truly minimal losses. That is, in fact, police special forces and special forces of the Russian Guard, whose tasks are to detain armed criminals and provide other force support for operational activities, have shown themselves to be full-fledged combat units.
In short, the men accomplished a feat. Like those tankers who broke into the city. And those desperate guys in KAMAZ trucks who brought BK to the city under fire. However, there is old army wisdom. A feat may be the result of someone’s shortcomings, says Medvedev. “And certainly honor and glory to the fighters.”
Military correspondent Evgeniy Poddubny, who is in the Kharkov region, confirms that heavy fighting is taking place.
“The situation is tense, but controlled. The enemy is transferring reserves north of Slavyansk in order to put pressure on the Russian group in general and units located south of Izyum in particular.
The movements of regime formations are recorded and stopped by reconnaissance means. Fire is being applied to the enemy. On my own behalf, I will add that there are no despondent soldiers and commanders in sight. The enemy will be defeated,” Poddubny predicts.
Writer Zakhar Prilepin is somewhat less optimistic, citing his local sources.
“Battles in Balakleya. Armed Forces of Ukraine near Kupyansk. (On Ukrainian public pages they write that they are 2 km from the city). The evacuation of locals from Kupyansk continues. Active attempts to encircle Izyum continue. The border and roads are closed.
The reserves that our side put into action have not yet corrected the situation. So far there are clearly not enough of them,” writes Prilepin.
In turn, the deputy head of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexei Gromov, claims that 20 settlements in the Kharkiv region have come under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In addition, he claims that there is a breakthrough 50 kilometers deep.
“As part of the defense operation in the Kharkov direction in order to restore lost territories, since the beginning of the week the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with units of the National Guard and other security forces, have been active in certain areas.
Currently, the military has penetrated the enemy’s defenses to a depth of 50 km. Filtration activities continue in a number of settlements. During active operations in the Kharkov direction, more than 20 settlements were liberated,” Gromov said.
