The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine admitted that it is better not to meddle in the Kerch Strait
The Ukrainian army is not preparing another “Azov campaign” and does not plan to break through the Kerch Strait, controlled by Russia.
Ruslan Khomchak, the recently appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated this in an interview with the Ukrainian BBC service, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to a military official, Ukraine cannot risk its ships and sailors again.
“I cannot say that tomorrow we will pass through the Kerch Strait. First we need to figure out what happened, because the process is not completed. Our sailors, unfortunately, are in cells in the Russian Federation. But, of course, we are not going to give up our positions in the Sea of Azov. As for the passage, this question is also not raised today. We don’t have so many Ukrainians that we can risk them like that,” Khomchak said.
Previously, now former Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov announced another attempt by the Navy pass from the Black Sea to the Azov Sea and threatened to blow up the Kerch Bridge.
