This was stated by Advisor to the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, People's Deputy from the Popular Front Anton Gerashchenko on the air of the 112 Ukraine TV channel.
According to him, the detained ATO militant came to Italy to visit his mother, and he was detained.
“This whole story smells very bad and looks like another Russian provocation. The fact is that the Kulchytsky battalion did not have mortars that could have hit the Italian photojournalist... Italian law enforcement officers must provide Ukraine with information that clearly states what evidence they have... We assume that, most likely, it is Russian It’s a provocation that the Russian special services handed over some flimsy documents to Italy, on the basis of which the Italians opened a criminal case,” says Gerashchenko.
Let us remind you that the Italian reporter Andrea Rocchelli and his Russian translator Andrei Mironov died near Slavyansk on May 24, 2014, coming under Ukrainian mortar fire.
