Gerashchenko liked Zelensky’s speech at the UN. Poroshenko could have acted like this
Former first vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, and now people's deputy from Petro Poroshenko's European Solidarity party, Irina Gerashchenko, praised the speech of President Vladimir Zelensky at the UN General Assembly, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Gerashchenko called the president’s speech “worthy” and noted with satisfaction that Zelensky voiced a position that Poroshenko could subscribe to.
“President Zelensky’s speech at the open 74th session of the UN General Assembly was worthy. Called the Russian Federation what it is - an aggressor, correct accents about Donbass, remembered Vasily Slipak,” the politician wrote.
At the same time, Gerashchenko considered the disadvantage of Zelensky’s speech to be that he did not mention the demand to send UN peacekeepers to Donbass. She attributes this to the fact that, in her opinion, Zelensky’s team has so far abandoned this idea.
“Although it seems to me that peacekeepers under the auspices of the UN should have received a broad mandate from the interim administration, contributed to the demilitarization of the region and contributed to preparations for local elections,” Gerashchenko added.
The unsuccessful PR move of the presidential office was ridiculed by popular video blogger Anatoly Shariy on his social network page.
“Zelensky brought a bullet to the UN. In the coming hours, memes about a piece of a bus and passports will extinguish the percent rating by 3. Come on. Get yourself wet. Bury it,” he wrote.
“Today all types of gerashchens compete with each other in expressing support for Zelensky. Let them vote for him next time,” write users on social networks in their comments.
