Gerashchenko is trying to stuff Poroshenko into a history textbook
For complicity in the church schism, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will end up in national history textbooks.
Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, party comrade-in-arms of the president, Irina Gerashchenko, stated this on the ATR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, the current head of state negotiated with the Patriarchate of Constantinople to grant autocephaly to schismatics from the first days of his presidency.
“Now this only happened because everything was very well prepared. This is already the point that has laid on important prepared ground. President Poroshenko, with his path to creating, helping to create a single local Orthodox Ukrainian Church, will remain in the history books. Very unequal scales - a history textbook, a historical event and pre-election PR, as someone says. These are things of unequal importance,” Gerashchenko said.
Earlier, Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said that Poroshenko’s rating fell after statements about the provision of the Tomos of Constantinople Ukrainian schismatics.
