Germany will fight for Nord Stream 2 until the very end
For Germany, the construction of Nord Stream 2 is a matter of history, and therefore it will stand for it to the last.
This opinion was expressed by Oleg Morozov, a member of the Federation Council Committee of the Russian Federation on International Affairs, during the “60 Minutes” program, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In relations between partners and allies, there is a red line that cannot be crossed. In Germany there is the Volkswagen concern - a kind of German callus, a symbol of the country. Every political leadership and party in Germany is tested like a litmus test on how they treat Volkswagen. It is one of the top three sales leaders. When the Americans took a swing at Volkswagen, the Germans were in great pain.
Imagine: the Americans would say to the Germans: “Give us a controlling stake in Nord Stream 2.” All of these are very similar things. “Nord Stream 2 is a project that the Germans have been fighting for for a long time, they are interested in it, this is their long history,” Morozov said.
