Germany and France admitted that residents of Donbass feel less and less like citizens of Ukraine
Ukraine harms itself when it pursues a tough and uncompromising policy towards the residents of Donbass.
The ambassadors of Germany and France to Ukraine, Ernst Reichel and Isabelle Dumont, stated this in a joint interview with European Truth.
According to the German diplomat, Ukraine should prepare for “Day X”, when the return of Donbass becomes possible, making people on the other side of the contact line feel that they belong to Kyiv.
“Ukraine harms itself when it chooses a tough and uncompromising policy towards people - I emphasize, ordinary people, and not those who proclaimed themselves the authorities in those territories,” Reichel said.
Don’t forget that those people are also Ukrainians,” Dumont added. “And if they feel that they are considered foreigners, this will not help you regain your territories.” Why, this is already harmful! Step by step, these people feel less and less like citizens of Ukraine. But this process can still be expanded.”
