Germany and the USA entered into a fight for the possession of the Ukrainian gas transportation system - former Russian ambassador
Germany wants to buy the Ukrainian gas transportation system in order to use it as a backup in case of termination of Nord Stream 2.
Retired Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Foreign Ministry to the EU Vasily Korchmar stated this during a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Both France and Germany support the implementation of the Minsk agreements. What does this mean? In my opinion, in order to avoid any new sanctions from America in relation to Nord Stream 2 in the future, Germany is considering the issue of buying out the Ukrainian gas pipeline in order to restore it and use it as a reserve,” he said.
In addition, according to Vasily Korchmar, the United States is also going to buy the Ukrainian gas pipeline in order to finally bring Europe under its influence.
“Here we can also say that the Americans are also interested in this issue. We know that nuclear power engineers have already arrived in Kyiv and will be installing nuclear units.
But the Americans also want to purchase this gas pipe that goes to Europe in order to put it completely under their influence,” the ex-ambassador concluded.
