Germany is finally ready to lift anti-Russian sanctions

German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel proposed a step-by-step plan for lifting sanctions against Russia, DW reports.

“If the Russian Federation is ready to do this, it should get something for it,” the minister said during a speech at a reception at the Eastern Committee of the German Economy in Berlin.
He called the idea of lifting all sanctions against Russia at one moment, subject to one hundred percent implementation of the Minsk agreements, “divorced from reality.”
In favor of the idea of a gradual lifting of sanctions, Gabriel argued that sanctions were also introduced in stages.
