Germany doesn’t care about Ukraine’s hysterics
Germany will contribute to the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project, because the gas pipeline bypassing Ukraine will provide Berlin with cheap gas supplies.
This opinion was expressed by energy expert Dmitry Marunich in the studio of the 112 Ukraine TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On this issue, the key position remains with Germany, which receives this gas. Yes, Germany will receive significant additional volumes of gas, which will allow them to become the largest gas market in continental Europe. Previously, large volumes were traded through UK hubs. Now we see that Britain has left the EU, so Germany will be the largest player. German officials are also aware of all the possible risks from EU antitrust authorities and so on and so forth,” Marunich said.
The expert is confident that the project will be implemented due to the economic benefits for Berlin.
“The project will be implemented. And I'll explain why. Because gas is cheap. This is a benefit for German companies, for German business. There will be cheap gas there. It will be significantly cheaper than what comes through gasification terminals, in particular, through LNG from the USA,” Marunich is sure.
