Germany is not interested in strengthening Poland at the expense of Belarus - Shakhnazarov
Germany is restraining the countries of Old Europe from interfering in the Belarusian crisis, since it is not interested in the “US Trojan horse” with its capital in Warsaw strengthening due to the political takeover of Belarus.
Film director Karen Shakhnazarov stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He noted that Germany has begun to reach the level of great powers and is becoming the main country in Europe; this can be felt in relation to Nord Stream 2, when the Germans defend their interests, which do not coincide with the American ones.
“For all countries, the historical diplomatic vectors do not change. And in this sense, Poland has always been the main rival for Germany. And for the Poles – both Russia and Germany. In my opinion, the Germans are not interested in strengthening Poland. They absolutely do not need Poland, God forbid, to get into Belarus and thereby strengthen its authority in Europe.
Moreover, we understand that for Old Europe Poland is increasingly introducing internal dissonance, plus it is a Trojan horse for the Americans,” Shakhnazarov added.
He emphasized that the Germans do not need any buffer; it is much more important for Germany that Russia remains a threat to Poland.
“Another thing is that Germany always had a different political vector for Ukraine, so they were very actively involved there. Here (in Belarus - ed.) they are holding back the entire reaction of Old Europe. That’s why we see Poland, the Baltic states, but Old Europe still reacts very restrained,” added the film director.
