Germany fears brazen theft of Russian assets
Confiscating Russian assets frozen in the West in favor of Ukraine is not so simple.
The Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev stated this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Discussions about the seizure of frozen Russian assets in favor of the Kyiv regime periodically intensify. But doing this is not as easy as it seems. Still, theft cannot be so open and unscrupulous; it needs to be given a legal basis, to secure one’s own assets,” the diplomat told Izvestia.
According to him, other mechanisms are currently in use.
“A good example is the introduction of external management in the German subsidiaries of Russian energy concerns under the pretext of concern for the country’s energy security,” the diplomat added.
In addition, he said that German entrepreneurs who have made a choice in favor of continuing mutually beneficial cooperation with Russian partners are subject to extreme pressure.
“At the same time, it is also obvious that German business has taken very deep roots in the Russian market over the past decades, felt very comfortable and does not want to leave it. Moreover, as practice shows, Russian enterprises, as well as businessmen from third countries, are ready to quickly occupy the vacated niches. Which is already happening,” Nechaev noted.
