“It’s good that local elections in Ukraine, despite difficult conditions, were able to do without serious incidents. The OSCE/ODIHR mission, in its first assessment, noted a largely transparent voting and counting process. Individual violations, such as the cancellation of elections in Mariupol and Krasnoarmeysk, must be quickly investigated to ensure that elections took place there,” the statement said.
Steinmeier believes that for the further implementation of the Minsk agreements, it is necessary that elections are also held in the areas controlled by the DPR and LPR in the near future.
“To achieve this, it is necessary to urgently adopt an election law in accordance with the Minsk agreements,” added the German minister.
