Heroes of the Great Patriotic War will be sent to the “territory of terror”
In Lviv, preparatory work has begun for the dismantling of the 30-meter stele of the “Monument of Glory”.
This was reported in the story of the Ukrainian TV channel “Direct”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
“In Lviv they began to demolish the Soviet monument “Monument of Glory”. Climbers carefully remove granite slabs and bas-relief. All this should be transferred to the “Territory of Terror” museum. For the last two decades, no one has been monitoring the complex, so the stele has become unsafe and is immediately subject to demolition. They plan to completely dismantle the Soviet symbol in a month, and the work will cost the authorities 300 thousand hryvnia.
The monument stood in the city center for more than 50 years. It itself consists of a stele and figures of warriors and the Motherland. A year ago, local authorities decided to demolish the monument,” the presenter said.
“As a result of the research, it turned out that the tallest stele in the city is in disrepair. The problem is that the slabs on which it stood began to settle, including the slabs from which the monument was paved, they began to crumble,” said Andrey Moskalenko, deputy city mayor of Lvov for development issues.
