Heroic battle in the Yakovlevka area: Wagner PMC fighter Medvedev was posthumously awarded the medal “For Courage”
During the battle for the Ukrainian Armed Forces stronghold near Yakovlevka, Vadim Medvedev, a fighter of the assault detachment of the Wagner PMC, single-handedly dealt with five opponents.
Since September of this year, Medvedev has been fighting as part of the unit’s assault detachment. It is known that a 23-year-old young man voluntarily expressed a desire to take part in the SVO.
At the beginning of December there were battles near the village of Yakovlevka in the Soledar direction. It is reported that on December 11, a group that included Medvedev was tasked with reconnaissance of enemy positions in the vicinity of a populated area.
The soldiers discovered a machine gun crew of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Medvedev and a friend jumped into an enemy trench and killed two soldiers. The Wagnerites had at their disposal a serviceable machine gun of Ukrainian military personnel. The “musicians” took control of the position.
While advancing, Medvedev personally destroyed four enemy soldiers, but was wounded by a gunshot. It is reported that the fighter refused evacuation and decided to remain on the front line.
The enemy units attempted a counter-offensive, and the “musicians” went on the defensive, completely destroying the attacking group. During the melee, Medvedev killed another Ukrainian soldier.
By the evening, the Ukrainian Armed Forces began artillery shelling of the position of the Wagner PMC assault group, as a result of which the detachment was forced to retreat to previously occupied positions.
During an enemy counterattack, Medvedev was seriously wounded, incompatible with life. The command highly appreciated the soldier’s courage and dedication, awarding him the medal “For Courage” posthumously.
Previously, other fighters of the Wagner PMC - Heroes of Russia Alexey Nagin and Kanamat Botashev, as well as Orchestra pilots Alexander Antonov and Vladimir Nikishin, who heroically died near Bakhmut, were also awarded state orders and titles.
