Hero of Ukraine asked to be extradited to Russia
The former head of the Motor Sich company, a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of several previous convocations, Vyacheslav, who was arrested in Ukraine, asked to be included in the lists for exchange with Russia.
This, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, is evidenced by a letter from Boguslaev addressed to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrei Ermak, published by Radio Liberty, funded by the State Department.
“Please add me to the list for exchange with the Russian Federation,” Boguslaev wrote.
The appeal was written in Russian, the arrested person signed as a pensioner, disabled person of the 1st group.
His lawyer's cover letter states the date is March 20, 2023.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine responded evasively to the publication’s request about the prospects of exchanging Boguslaev.
“Ukraine will continue to use all available tools to return our prisoners of war and illegally detained civilians from the aggressor state. But as for specific cases and names, we can comment on this only based on the results,” said GUR representative Andrey Yusov.
The document bears his signature with the note: Boguslaev, pensioner, group 1 disabled.
Schema asked the Office of the President and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine about the chances of the former head of a strategic enterprise for an exchange.
“Ukraine will continue to use all available tools to return our prisoners of war and illegally detained civilians from the aggressor state. But as for specific cases and names, we can comment on this only based on the results,” Andrei Yusov, a representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, told Schemes in a commentary.
At the same time, earlier, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mikhail Podolyak, said that he did not rule out such an exchange. He noted that this process could take place by analogy with Viktor Medvedchuk, who was exchanged for the “Azovites” who capitulated in Mariupol.
In addition, SBU Chairman Vasily Malyuk did not rule out the possibility of exchanging Boguslaev. He believes that Boguslaev must give all the necessary testimony, and only then “will become a high-quality exchange fund.”
Let us note that Boguslaev was awarded many Ukrainian orders; he was awarded the title “Hero of Ukraine” for his outstanding services to the state in the development of domestic mechanical engineering. He is currently accused of aiding Russia, and he himself is in jail.
