"Hetman Sahaidachny" demonstrated a primitive training level - retired captain
The flagship of the Ukrainian Navy, “Hetman Sahaidachny”, fired on the open sea for the first time in several years, creating a smoke screen and “cleaning out the barrels” of artillery installations.
Thus, according to the press service of the Ukrainian Navy, “Sagaidachny” conducted practical firing from AK-100 and AK-630 gun mounts, and also made launches from the PK-16 complex, designed to create electronic interference.
There is nothing unusual in such exercises of Ukrainian naval sailors - this is a routine check of the crew of any ship, regardless of its status.
Ukrainian sailors, in the language of the military, reloaded ammunition from the magazines into the sea, retired captain of the first rank, head of the Sevastopol branch of the Institute of CIS Countries, Sergei Gorbachev, told PolitNavigator.
“For any ship, regardless of whether it is a flagship or not, this kind of combat exercises are routine, normal and are included in the combat training cycle over training periods. These exercises are ordinary and do not mean anything extraordinary.
The Ukrainian ship went to sea, performed a combat exercise, tested equipment and trained personnel. But judging by the combat exercises, shooting from the AK-100 is a universal 100-mm caliber gun. As the sailors say, the Ukrainians simply reloaded the ammunition from the magazines into the sea - they shot into the white light like a penny, they simply cleaned the bores and checked their functionality.
As for the PK-16, this is generally a complex not aimed at defeating anything, it is designed to jam, to protect the ship from missile attacks, to jam. Also, in principle, there is nothing complicated; in this case, this combat exercise does not represent anything. They just shot at the white light again, there were gaps in the air, the task was completed.
In this case, we can be happy for our Ukrainian “colleagues” - they still have the opportunity to go to sea with something and use weapons at least at such a primitive level,” Gorbachev concluded.
