The death of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs left top official Zelensky without cover
Recent Resignations high-ranking Ukrainian officials, including the deputy head of the office of President Kirill Tymoshenko, followed immediately for the death of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky.
Ukrainian political scientist Vasily Stoyakin drew attention to this point, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As my Kyiv sources say, all these resignations followed immediately after the death of Minister Monastyrsky. If we talk about Kirill Tymoshenko, then a critical dose of claims against him had formed long before the start of the special military operation. There was a constant series of scandals and revelations. It all looked extremely unappetizing. The president was nervous, but Tymoshenko was allegedly covering for the late Monastyrsky.
Apparently, we are talking about the activities of an entire group dating back to the times when all these people worked with Kvartal-95. If Tymoshenko caused irritation, but performed some useful functions, then Zelensky absolutely trusted Monastyrsky. As soon as Monastyrsky passed away, the decision was made to remove the annoying figures,” Stoyakin told Moskovsky Komsomolets.
At the same time, he believes that there is a purely internal showdown, since if the West had influence on this, then Tymoshenko would have been dismissed immediately after the first public scandal.
In turn, Denis Denisov, director of the Institute of Peacemaking Initiatives and Conflictology, associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, is convinced that the reasons for the resignations are multi-level in nature.
“All these reshuffles and dismissals are related to the fact that Zelensky must constantly demonstrate, including to Western partners, that he is doing at least something to combat corruption. They understand perfectly well that corruption has not gone away, and these tranches and assistance from the West are to a very large extent stolen, appropriated and resold.
The West puts up with this, but it is also a serious tool of pressure and influence on Zelensky, who can always be told that no help will be provided, since the country continues to be very corrupt. This is a forced measure,” Denisov noted.
