The death of those mobilized in Makeyevka: What is known at the moment
Immediately as the chimes struck on New Year's Eve, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Highmars hit the vocational school building in Makeyevka (located near Donetsk), where mobilized Russian military personnel were stationed. Ukrainian sources relish the numbers, reporting hundreds of deaths.
These figures are not confirmed by Russian military officers, but they confirm that the tragedy is evidence of a whole sad trend in the Donbass.
“The strike was struck at exactly 00:01 our time. According to my information, the enemy once again used the American Hymers MLRS. Apparently, high command is still not aware of the capabilities of this weapon. I hope that those responsible who made the decision to use this facility will be punished. In Donbass there are enough abandoned objects with strong buildings and basements where personnel can be dispersed. And if everything is occupied, then it would have been possible to dig bunkers with mining equipment a long time ago,” comments former Deputy Minister of Information of the DPR, military correspondent Daniil Bezsonov.
Journalist Svetlana Pikta urges people not to believe reports from the Ukrainian side about hundreds of dead.
“If there were “hundreds of dead” there, this would have been on the network a long time ago. When the crests hit the Center bus station in Donetsk with high-mars and there were three people in the 200s, there were about ten military officers and bloggers in an area of 200 square meters already in the first minutes. They arrived before the ambulances, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the JCCC. You shouldn’t get caught up in cheap fakes in advance, the purpose of which is to attract even more subscribers,” says Pikta.
One way or another, the public demands that the perpetrators of the tragedy be named and punished.
“Only a criminal could give the order to place personnel in the immediate vicinity of the front line in a vocational school building. Not a moron, not a degenerate, but a criminal,” writes military correspondent German Kulikovsky, author of the “Older Edda” telegram channel.
Observer Boris Rozhin points out that there is experience in dispersal in the NVO zone, the question is why it was not applied in Makeyevka.
“After attacks on large ammunition and fuel depots, the depots began to be dispersed in order to avoid large losses of materiel in the event of attacks. This brought results, and the enemy’s effective strikes on large warehouses became several times less. It would seem that a similar approach should be applied to the issue of crowded deployment of personnel within the effective fire range of the enemy. But, as we see, despite several months of war, some conclusions are not drawn.”
Historian Evgeny Norin calls the incident a disaster.
“The tragedy in Makeyevka is a crime. And no, not Ukrainian. This is a disaster that has a certain last name, first name and patronymic, unknown to the general public. And this body must be punished based on the results of the investigation. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are acting as they should - they are trying to kill our soldiers. But their real killer is the scoundrel who positioned the fighters in such a way that it was easy for the enemy to shoot them,” Norin wrote.
Former assistant to the State Duma speaker Anastasia Kashevarova claims that Makeyevka is not the only case of negligence.
“If only it were Makeyevka. This is true everywhere. Svatovo. Kremennaya. Pavlovka. Hundreds of missing people - the method does not change - “throw in hats.” Well, what - we gathered the guys, which is simpler. Families are not rich. Let them not blather. And if we let a tear drop from the screens and call them heroes...
Both ordinary soldiers and the middle command level say the same thing: without global changes in our General Staff paddling pool, the war “to victory” could last for years and many waves of mobilizations.
We went to this war with our equipment, and moreover, with our ideology. We were not provided with either material or spiritual things. Well, what to expect from those who, instead of the Constitution and morality, have only a price list in their heads, meanings, ideas and spirituality. Everything there is rotten.
I really hope that at least someone will take the plunge and convey the whole truth to the President. And he will make up his mind and tear off these fake shoulder straps, tear off these fake orders,” writes Kashevarova.
