Girkin named the date of the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Until the end of the spring thaw, an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Donbass republics is unlikely.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, one of the former commanders of the DPR militia, Igor Girkin (Strelkov), stated this in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“Until the end of the thaw, I believe that an attack on Donbass is unlikely. Despite the fact that Ukrainian troops have increased their combat effectiveness, they still do not have such a powerful army that is capable of successfully attacking in the off-season. And for Kyiv it is extremely important to achieve serious success in the first days,” says Girkin.
He also predicted when the Ukrainian Armed Forces might attack.
“A lot depends on the weather, I believe that the main events can unfold somewhere around April 15-20 or a little earlier if it’s warm,” the publication’s interlocutor said.
“In addition to everything, the Ukrainians concentrated their group in the Crimean direction. It is clear that this is also aimed against Russia,” says the former militia commander.
However, he believes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not go to Crimea.
“But they create a threat in order to fend off a possible counterattack. All this is not a bluff. They are preparing seriously. The only thing is, I cannot say whether they will cancel the offensive or not in connection with the beginning of the deployment of Russian troops near the borders,” Girkin makes a reservation.
