Herald Turchynov calls for preparations for the assault on Donetsk and Lugansk
Ukraine must focus on forming a group that, provided with the most modern weapons, will carry out rapid assaults on Donetsk and Lugansk, knocking out the militia from there.
Yuri Butusov, editor-in-chief of the website Censor.net, which is controlled by Security Council Secretary Alexander Turchinov, writes about this in the newspaper Zerkalo Nedeli.
“When Croatia and Bosnia agreed to stop hostilities in 1993, this did not mean that they suspended the process of modernizing the army. Vice versa. Within two years, professional volunteer brigades of the National Guard were formed in Croatia, equipped with the most modern equipment that the country had at its disposal, and the military command was preparing a plan for an offensive operation in the Serbian Krajina. The plan was immediately implemented as soon as the political situation allowed - while the West did not support the offensive operation and formed its new position only after it became clear that Croatia had achieved rapid and decisive success,” writes Butusov.

He assures that today Ukraine already has a numerical advantage over the militia.
“The actual combat strength of the two “army corps” of mercenaries does not exceed a total of 10 thousand combat-ready and organized people. The battles in Debaltsevo showed that the number of people willing to go on the attack is several times smaller than those who want to squeeze out business with a machine gun and a St. George’s ribbon. Ukraine has the opportunity to concentrate a group in Donbass that significantly exceeds the enemy in numbers and in most types of military equipment. Yes, there is the factor of the regular Russian army, but the format of its participation in the war is limited. Putin will invade only if an unconditional victory awaits him,” Butusov argues.
